Day 4 No Spend November - Flowers

I'm into the fourth day of my 'No Spend November' and I'm proud to say, I haven't yet spent a cent! Every day I scour my pantry, fridge and freezer to make up our daily meals and it's surprising what can be invented with a bit of imagination. We've had pea fritters, popcorn, muffins, chicken drumsticks marinated with jam and ginger, pea 'n bacon risotto to name a few meals. No ones complaining yet!

I've also revived my old friend "Frankie" the sour-dough starter which has been sleeping in my freezer these past few months. It's taken a few days of feeding but I think we're nearly ready to fire up the oven and pump out the loafs. I've missed her so it's going to be a fun reunion!

It was a long weekend here in Northern Tasmania so I've used the time to get stuck into a few jobs around the house. I've used left over tins of paint to finish painting windows, Roge has been busy sealing all the cracks around the house as well as putting up the finishing timber around the windows. The lawns are mowed, the laundry cleaned. It's been a feng shui fest!

We weren't boring the whole weekend. We've had friends over, taken the kids to the park and had dinner with Roge's family. Phew, it sounds busy when I write it all out.

Now, I couldn't write a post without telling you of another freebie tip. I love flowers and plants in the house but I'd prefer not to pay for them. My tip is to scrounge from your own garden (if you have one) or if not, from your family or even the neighbours (no jumping fences but if it's hanging over the fence...)

These banksia/wattle (I'm not sure which) were hanging over my fence from the neighbours and as far as I'm concerned, that's fair game!

Flowers don't have to be hothouse grown, there is beauty in leaves from gumtrees, a sprig of lavender or even a few sticks. Go for a walk around and see what you can find to pretty up your dining table or bathroom this week.

  1. Thanks for the "Frankie" mention. You've inspired me to awaken my Frankie, too. xx

    1. Hi Sheryl,

Even though Frankie is your name, I always think of mine as Frankie now too! It seems so appropriate.

How did you go in the blog comp. I know you've got some prizes, was that because you won?
