If you don't ask, you don't get

I believe that in almost every situation you are in where you are going to buy something, you should ask "is that the best price you can do for me". I would say 9 out of 10 times I get a discount of some description. A prime example of this happened yesterday. Roge (the hubby) and I have just built ourselves a new garage. It is clad in cement sheet which we wanted to render. As we had never rendered before, we did the research and found a product called Granosite Granoready Render which is a pre mixed render type product. Last week we had priced it up at $115 per 15L so when I sent Roge to go purchase it, I suggested that he ask if that is their best price.

Roge came back from the shop 15 minutes later looking pleased with himself. I asked how he went, "Pretty good I think" he replied with a sly little grin on his face. Turns out he asked for a discount and was offered $108 per 15L which he figured was better than nothing. Then he name dropped a friend of his who apparently knew one of the staff there...next thing we're getting staff rates at $60.15 for 15L!! See what I mean, if you don't ask, you don't get.

Here are the results:
